Before The Typhoon

 As much as we want to say otherwise, typhoons are regular visitors of our country. There is an average number of 20 typhoons that enter the Philippines every year. Now, I want you to imagine this: you just heard on the news that there's a typhoon coming. What should you do to prepare for it? As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. And to prevent severe damage, you need to remove as much vulnerability as possible. Below is a list of the things you can do before the typhoon comes:  So maybe you can't do all of those. You can share this blog or whatever it is that you've learned with the people who can, like your parents or your older siblings. But we still believe that you can do something. After all, being informed is the first step to taking action.

During The Typhoon

 During typhoons, and any other disasters at that, the number one thing you should do is to keep calm. And you can only stay calm if you know you've prepared enough. Now, did you?  Going back, why should you stay cool-headed? You will only be able to think properly and act accordingly if you keep your composure. And during disasters, the way you think and act are significant factors of your safety. To save you a bit from the thinking part, here is a list of the things you should do during a typhoon:  So maybe you can't do all of those.  After the typhoon is the only time you can say whether you did right or not before and during the typhoon. But let's save the reflecting part for later and start recovering and minding our safety first. After all, floods don't usually subside as soon as the typhoon leaves. Before The Earthquake

  The Philippines is in the Pacific Ring of Fire which is distinguished by active volcanoes and often earthquakes. Now, let's get straight to the point: no, we can't predict earthquakes. Not now and most likely not in the near future. And that means that the only way to prepare for earthquakes is to ALWAYS  be prepared. Following is a list of the things you can do to make yourself and your house ready for what may come:  So maybe you can't do all of those. During The Earthquake

 Earthquakes only last for 10 to 30 seconds on average, so you really can't do much during it. But still, what you'll do during those small timeframes will decide your safety. But, above all, you need to keep your composure so that you'll remember what you need to do no matter how sudden the earthquake is. Underneath is a list of the things you should do as soon as the ground starts shaking:  So maybe you can't do all of those. After The Earthquake

 Even after the ground stops shaking, you need to keep in mind the possibility of aftershocks and tsunamis. You can't be complacent but you can't panic either. Panicking may lead to a stampede which may cause more casualties than necessary. Also, depending on your location numerous things around you may collapse, so you need to be extra careful. Below is a list of the things you can do after an earthquake:  So maybe you can't do all of those. Before The Fire

 You can't predict fire, but you surely can prevent it. Look at your surroundings right now and try to identify the things that can cause a fire. Did you see any? Cables, matches, and stoves, but whether you think there are any or not, accidents can happen anytime and anywhere. So what we need to do is to reduce the probability. Reduce the risks and the hazards, prepare for what may come, and receive less damage. Here's how:  So maybe you can't do all of those. During The Fire

 Your number one priority during a fire is to get out of your location SAFELY. Keep in mind that your life is more important than any valuables. Even if you lose all your properties and belongings, as long as you and your whole family were able to get out safely, then you can still consider yourself lucky. What you need to do during a fire is to try to stay calm and remember to do the following:  So maybe you can't do all of those.  After the fire is taken out, depending on how bad the situation is, you might not have anything to go back to. But, there is also a lot of chance that you'll still have something left if you've prepared enough and responded correctly. Now, after the fire, it's time to recover and move forward.
